The app

Your spaces, notes and tabs are stored on your Mac. There is no account and no sync.

The app connects to the internet for three things of its own:

• Update checks. Every few hours it asks GitHub whether a new version is out. GitHub sees your IP address, as it would for any download.
• Site icons. When you add a website, the app fetches that site's icon from the site itself.
• A daily "in use" signal. Once a day, the app tells PostHog that it was opened, with a random ID made on your Mac, the app version, and the day it was first installed. This is how we know how many people keep using Nook. It carries nothing about you or what you do in the app: no name, no email, no sites, no notes.

Pages you open inside Nook are loaded like in any browser, and those sites' own privacy policies apply.

This website

• Visit statistics. We count page views and which buttons are clicked using PostHog, hosted in the US. No cookies are set and nothing is stored in your browser, so a visit is not linked to you or to your other visits.
• Intel Mac and Windows list. If you ask to hear when Nook comes to Intel Macs or Windows, your email address and which one you picked are collected through Tally. We use it only to tell you when that version is out. We do not sell or share it.
• Hosting. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs.

Feedback

If you send feedback from the app, it goes through a Tally form. Your email is optional and used only to reply. The form also gets the app's random ID and how many days you have used Nook, so we can read your feedback alongside how long you have used it.

Deleting your data

Send a request through the feedback form and we will remove your email address and anything you sent us. To remove everything the app stored, delete Nook and its folder at ~/Library/Application Support/nook.
